Physio fees and health fund claims, made clear before you book
Every physio appointment at Adapt in North Sydney ends with a receipt you can claim if your extras cover includes physio, while gym training, the Adapt app and strength testing are not claimable. Ask us for the current fee before you book and you will know exactly what you are paying for.

What you can claim at Adapt
Each service is claimed in its own way.
Physiotherapy
Each appointment can be claimed on extras cover that includes physio, using the receipt from your visit.
Gym-based physiotherapy
Consults with your physiotherapist may be claimable on extras cover, depending on your fund. Supervised gym sessions, the Adapt app and strength testing are not.
Gym and personal training
These are training services, so they are not claimable on private health.
How to claim your physio appointment
Claiming takes a few minutes once you know what your fund needs.
Check your cover
Ask your fund whether your extras include physio before your first visit.
Book
Book online or call us, and mention that you plan to claim.
Bring your card
Bring your health fund card, along with any scans and referral letter.
Claim with your receipt
You get a receipt at the end of each appointment to claim through your fund.
Why your gym sessions are not claimable
Health funds pay for appointments with a registered physiotherapist. When your rehab moves onto the gym floor, the supervised sessions, your program in the Adapt app and strength testing count as training, so they sit outside your extras cover. Your physio reviews are still claimed as normal.
How gym-based physio works

Is there a fee if I miss an appointment?
A missed appointment with no notice may be charged the full appointment fee, and so may a cancellation inside 24 hours. Give us at least 24 hours notice by phone or email and there is no fee to move or cancel.
Questions about physio fees
Book a physioHow much does a physio appointment cost at Adapt?
The fee depends on the appointment type and length. A first appointment usually runs 45 to 60 minutes and a follow-up 30 to 45 minutes. Call or email us and we will confirm the current fee before you book.
How much will my health fund pay back?
That depends on your fund and your level of extras cover, so two people can get different amounts for the same appointment. Your fund can tell you what it pays for a physio consult.
Is there a limit to how many appointments I can claim?
Your fund sets any yearly limit on physio claims, and it varies by policy. Check what is left on your cover before you book a run of appointments.
What if my fund needs a referral?
You do not need one to book at Adapt. If your fund asks for a GP referral before it pays a rebate, get it before your first appointment and bring it with you.
Is physio bulk billed?
Physio at Adapt is a private appointment. If you have a GP care plan or another funding arrangement, tell us before you book and we will confirm how it applies to your visit.
When do I pay?
At the end of each appointment, when you get the receipt you use to claim through your fund.
Does it matter what injury I am claiming for?
Usually not. Funds pay on the type of appointment, so a sports injury, back pain or rehab after surgery are claimed the same way. Your fund can confirm the rules on your policy.
Ask about fees before you book
Tell us which appointment you are thinking about and we will confirm the current fee.
Who you see
Physio appointments at Adapt are with Sam Baylis or John MacAuliffe, both registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
